With family at his side, Thurman Jerry Slaughter, 78, passed away from complications of the Covid virus on March 1, 2021 at Texoma Medical Center.  Jerry, son of Thurman Guy and Ruby Clark Slaughter, was born February 28, 1943 in Grandfield, Oklahoma.  He attended school in Fletcher, Oklahoma, Cameron University and University of Texas at Arlington.  On August 8, 1964, he and Lawana Breeden were married in Montague, Texas.
Jerry worked at Texas Instruments in Richardson and Sherman and retired after 33 years of service.  He worked at ACS in Sherman and Denison for a number of years and retired again in 2012.  He volunteered with several area high schools where he enjoyed working with students in the North Texas Best Robotics competitions.
He is survived by his wife; 2 children: son, Scott Slaughter and Robin; daughter, Stephanie Slaughter and Misty Homen; 2 sisters, Shirley Julien and Jerry; and Pamela Dorman and Randy; brother-in-law, Foster Anderson; 3 grandchildren: granddaughter, Morgan Slaughter and Luis Erives; grandson, Clay Slaughter and Courtney Pryor; grandson, Stayton Slaughter; 2 great-granddaughters, Catalina Erives and Carter Rose Slaughter; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside services were at Akers Cemetery on Saturday afternoon, March 6, 2021.  Arrangements were under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home, Sherman, Texas.  Memorials may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, Florida, 33131. - - - Waldo Funeral Home
