Barbara Joyce (Little) Denton passed from this life on February 6, 2021 at TMC in Denison.  She fought a long, courageous battle with a variety of illnesses.
Barbara's parents, Woodrow and Billie Little welcomed her to this world on November 2, 1937 near Peniel in Hunt County, Texas.  When she was 2 years of age, they moved to Sherman.  She attended Lee and Washington Elementary schools and Sherman High School. During many of these years she was active in Camp Fire Girls (Blue Birds and Horizon).
She married John Denton at Forest Avenue Baptist Church and moved to Biloxi, Mississippi, then to Fort Worth while John completed military service in the Air Force.  While in Fort Worth, she attended business college to learn secretarial and business skills  She also added to the family by giving birth to Cynthia and Michael.  Back in Sherman, she worked as a secretary at General Telephone Company, the M&P Bank and Capital Products Company (now Kaiser Aluminium) while John finished degree requirements at Austin College.
She became expert at moving and making a home for her family at locations such as the Rio Grande Valley, Mississippi, west Texas, Oklahoma, Houston, Dubai (United Arab Emirates) and back to Houston.  During most of this time she also worked in banking, Coca Cola Foods and several oil companies. She completed her business career at Conoco, Inc. where she retired as an Analyst after 10 years to move to Dubai.
While living in Dubai, she was active in the Petroleum Wives Club, served a term as President, and took advantage of the opportunity to travel to many interesting places.
After she and John moved to the Tanglewood community near Pottsboro in 1995, she maintained her longtime interest in bowling, playing bridge, and was a member of the Sherman Shakespeare Club.  Barbara was a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority and was active from 1961 until 1994.  She was an avid reader, loved decorating and had a natural talent for drawing and painting, calligraphy, sewing and "Do it yourself" projects.
Barbara had a strong faith and served as an elder and on many committees of several Presbyterian (USA) churches.  Since returning to this area, she and John had attended Covenant (First) Presbyterian Church in Sherman.
She was predeceased by her parents; sister, Judith Morris; and brother, David.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, John; daughter, Cynthia (Randal) of Dallas; son, Michael and wife, Carole of Austin; grandsons, Taylor and wife Heather; Matthew and wife Abbey; and Clay and wife, Diana; and great-grandchildren, Conner, Luke, Bonnie, Katie and Annabelle of Dallas.
As she wished, Barbara was cremated.  A private immediate family interment service at Akers Cemetery will be held when weather permits.  A memorial service was held at a later date when pandemic conditions permit.  Services were under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home.
