Pearl Elizabeth Spradling, better known as "Betty, Mom, and Granny," left this earthly life on  Sunday, June 26, 2022 at her home in Sherman, Texas and set off toward the gates of Heaven to her mansion just over the hilltop.
Throughout her 84 years, Betty lived a life full of incredible memories, amazing experiences, great lessons, countless prayers, and everlasting friendships with her friends and family.  Her story began on May 2, 1938, along the banks of the Calcasieu River in Lake Charles, Louisiana.  A town known for its rhythm and blues music was also the place where an Air Force Airman locked eyes on a tall, beautiful brown-eyed woman with a radiant smile that could light up a room.  On August 30, 1957, the two would be connected for eternity as Betty and Leroy Spradling.
In their early years of marriage, there were a lot of one-way tickets and cars packed to the ceiling with filled suitcases and boxes, as they left their home in Lake Charles and traveled along the winding roads throughout the dense forests near the Ouachita Mountains in Benton and Hot Springs, Arkansas.  Their journey of spreading the gospel continued to the Choctaw Nation in Durant, Oklahoma and the Lone Star State in Lufkin, Wichita Falls and Mesquite, Texas before they finally settled in Sherman, Texas at their forever home.
Throughout her travels, Betty developed some beautiful friendships over the years.  She was a rock for many; a friend and mentor that would offer up incredible wisdom; a sounding board willing to listen to other's challenges; and a jokester that would have you rolling around on the floor, laughing until you cried. Her story is like a love letter and guide to living a fulfilled Godly life by design.
Betty is survived by her 2 lovely daughters, Cindy Mendenhall and husband, Doug, from Sherman, Texas; and Sherry Burk and husband, Steve, from Greenville, Texas, as well as 5 magnificent grandchildren: Aaron Wheeler; Bradley Story and wife, Kayla; Ashley McAdoo and husband, Spencer; Eric Story and wife, Avi; and Julie Lillibridge and husband, Dillon.
Betty is also survived by 9 beautiful great-grandchildren: Ainslee and Gunner Lillibridge; Edward, Ethan and Addison Story; Alexis and Addalee Story; and Olivia and Maverick McAdoo.
The family celebrated her life on Wednesday afternoon, June 29, 2022 at Heritage Nazarene in Sherman, Texas with graveside service to immediately following at Akers Cemetery in Sherman, Texas.
Pallbearers were Dillon Lillibridge, Aaron Wheeler, Dean Lillibridge, Eric Story, Spence McAdoo and Rondell Sigure.  Honorary pallbearers were Maverick McAdoo, Gunner Lillibridge, Ethan Story and Edward Story. - - - Waldo Funeral Home
