ARLINGTON - Doris Prentiss Taylor, 93, a retired funeral home secretary, died Friday May 26, 2006 at an Arlington assisted living center.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Akers Cemetery, Howe, Texas. Open visitation beginning Sunday at 1 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home, Bowen Road Chapel, 4216 S. Bowen Street.

In Lieu of Flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 101 Summitt Ave., #300 Fort Worth, Texas 76147, or the charity of your choice.

Doris Prentiss Taylor was born May 22, 1913 in Howe, Texas to Prentiss Lynn and Vallie Stark Taylor. She was raised in Howe and graduated from Sherman High School in Sherman, Texas and attended Austin College in Sherman and Business College there.

Doris was employed by Roesch Brother Funeral Chapel in Shawnee, Oklahoma, for over 35 years. After her retirement, she traveled extensively, having visited 27 countries and all of the United States except Minn. and North Dakota.

Doris was a member of the First Christian Church in Shawnee, Oklahoma and the AARP Chapter 1527.

Preceded her in death were her parents and sister, Velma Lynn Taylor.

Surviving are a foster brother,  who is also her cousin, Louis Wayne Allgood and his wife, Harriet of Arlington, Texas and their children, Janis Rae Allgood of Austin, Texas, Louise Gray of Abilene, Texas and Susan Priddy of Manvel, Texas and their children as well as many cousins.

Arrangements are under the direction of Moore Funeral Home Bowen Road Chapel.
