Sherman - Graveside services for Melton Ray Scribner were held Tuesday, April 4, at Akers Cemetery.  Rev. Duane Peters and Pastor Don Neill officiated with services under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home.  Pallbearers were Sonny Abernathy, Heath Haynes, Tony Nichols, Mike Scribner, Dusty Melton, James Eddie Shadden, and Jeremy Talbot.  Randy Abernathy was an honorary pallbearer.
 Melton passed away Friday, March 31, 2006 from injuried he receied in an auto accident.
Melton was born February 15, 1987 in Sherman.  He graduated from Howe High School in May 2005 and was employed by Champion Cooler.  He was a member of the Inspiration Point Cowboy Church.
Melton is survived by his parents, Tim and Tina Scribner of Sherman; and Joy and Gary Owens of Whitewright; one sister, Bootsie Scribner of Denison; one brother, Parker Owens of Whitewright; two step-brothers, Greg and Gary Don Owens, both of Whitewright; one step-sister, Tasha Owens of Denison; grandparents, James and Shirley Melton of Howe and Darrell and Betty Nichols of Hugo, Oklahoma; step-grandparents, Carol and Melton Kemp of Denison; aunts and uncles, Bob and Donna Nolan of Joppa, Maryland; Michael Scribner of Sherman; Tony and Claudia Nichols of Bossier City; Kyle Nichols of Hugo; Rusty and Kathy Melton of Howe; Tamela and Scott Shadden of Howe; Peggy and Dave Abernathy of Sherman; Debbie and Mark Landers of Hutto; Lisa and Victor McNealy of Sherman; Leslie and Brian Blanton of Whitewright; and Dwight Owens; and numerous nieces and nephews. cousins. and other family membeers.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Saundra and John Scribner; and great-grandparents, L.C. and Lajuana Robertson; and Jim and Mildred Kyle.
Memorials may be made to the Sherman Animal Shelter.
