Graveside services were held Saturday morning in Akers Cemetery for David Phares, Sr., 78-year-old retired paint contractor of 325 W. Cherry St., who died Thursday at a Sherman nursing home.  Rev. Wirt Skinner of Grand Avenue Presbyterian Church officiated, with arrangements by Waldo Funeral Home.
Mr. Phares was born in Howe and was married to Millie E. Sparkman on October 11, 1955 in Lubbock.  He formerly worked for the Frisco Railroad and was a Baptist.
Surviving are his wife of Sherman; son, David Phares, Jr. of Sherman; stepson, Bill Fritz of Amarillo; sister, Mrs. Gert Sollis of Sherman; and 3 grandchildren.
Pallbearers were James Henry, Donny Ferguson, Kenneth Laws, Roy Capps and Roy Johnson.

Millie E. Phares, 86, died in an Amarillo hospital.  She was a housewife.
Graveside services were held at Akers Cemetery under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.  Dr. Tom Brandon of First Baptist Church of Sherman officiated.
Survivors were her son, Bill R. Fritz of Amarillo; her stepson, David Phares, Jr. of Sherman; 2 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
