Bird McCoy was born October 8, 1909 in Pike, Texas, daughter of Julius
Frazier and Mattie Williams Bird. She married J.P. (Buster) McCoy
on December 23, 1939. Mary received her B.A. Degree from East Texas State University in 1938. She retired from teaching in Howe ISD in 1969. Mary joined Key Memorial United Methodist Church and was a member of Key Bible Class. She was al so a member of the Carpenter's Chapter of Order in Eastern Star. She moved to Bedford, Texas in 2003. She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Eldridge of Bedford, Texas; grandchildren, Mary Eldridge Stovall and husband, Drew, of Lufkin; Creighton Eldridge and wife, Andie, of Cambridge, Massachusetts; 4 great-grandchildren, Jessica and Britton Stovall of Lufkin, Texas; Liam and Celia Eldridge of Cambridge, Massachusetts; one sister, Mattie Peterson of San Juan Capistrano, California; and many nieces and nephews.
