Ralph W. Wattenford
13 March 1944 - 7 December 1980

Betty J. Wattenford
13 June 1932 - 17 August 2000

After graduation, he attended the School of Forestry for a short time.   He then went back to Spokane, Washington, along with my other brother, Wes, and my sister, Janet, to live with my mother for a few   years.  My sister then moved to Portland, and my mother and brothers moved to the La Mirada, CA area.  While there, Ralph worked for the Sherwin-Williams paint company
.

Around 1967, he began having health problems so he decided to move to Phoenix.  His health improved and again found employment with a paint company (Fuller, I think).
About 1974-75 he met a lady from Oklahoma in his apartment complex who had recently lost her husband to cancer.  They were married shortly afterwards but they never had any children.
In December of 1980, he passed away due to stomach cancer.  I was able to visit him in Phoenix three weeks before he passed. Other than that visit, I had only seen him twice since he left North Dakota.  In 1970 he visited me and my family in Minneapolis, and I saw him again in 1976 when I was on a family vacation.
He is buried in Akers Cemetery in Sherman, Texas, which is about 40 miles north of Dallas.  In 2000, his wife passed away and is buried with him.
