Services were held Tuesday morning from the Waldo Funeral Chapel for
Orvil H. Walker, 78, of 588 Scott Circle, who died at 1:05 am Sunday at a Sherman hospital. Services were conducted by Wayne Lowe, minister of the College Hill Church of Christ and Olden Cook, minister of the Travis Street Church of Christ. Burial was at Akers Cemetery.
Mr. Walker
was born April 4, 1893, at Joplin, Missouri, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Mahlon C. Walker. He was married to the former Myra Odessa Davis on December 8, 1917, at Howe and had lived in Grayson County for 70 years.
He attended public schools in Missouri and cam to Texas and to Grayson County in 1901. He had been a farmer all of his life, retiring several years ago. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of American Legion Post No. 29 and the Travis Street Church of Christ. He had lived in Sherman for the past 65 years.
Survivors are his wife of Sherman; one
son, Harold Walker of Dallas; one daughter, Mrs. Douglas Norris of Sherman; one brother, A.D. Walker of Sherman; 2 sisters, Mrs. Isom Medford of Sherman and Mrs. Pearl Woods of Dallas; 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were
Dean Martin, Foy Wallace, Tommy Lowery, Cliff Hestand, Howard Kinney and C.M. Miller, Jr.
