Funeral services for Jerry Lynn Abernathy, age 67, of Sherman, Texas were held at 10:00 AM Thursday, July 5, 2012 at the Waldo Funeral Home Chapel. Jody Dyer of Pathway Fellowship Church in Whitesboro, Texas officiated and burial followed at Akers Cemetery in Sherman, Texas. Arrangements were under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman, Texas.
Jerry passed away on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital-WNJ in Sherman, Texas.
He was born on February 6, 1945 in Oakland, California, the son of Charles Dee and Annie Irene Nichols Abernathy. Jerry married Pamela Turley on March 25, 1986 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He loved God, his wife and all his family,helping people, reading and watching westerns, fishing and woodworking.
He is survived by his wife Pam of 26 years; son, Thomas Abernathy of Clarendon, Texas; son, Jeffery Abernathy and wife Connie of Amarillo, Texas; daughter, Deanna Alderete and husband Chris of Amarillo, Texas; daughter, Carole Longmire and husband Tim of Sherman, Texas; daughter, Karen Bolton and husband Gene of Hobbs, New Mexico; son, Tommy Maloney and wife Cindy of Sherman, Texas; 19 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; and brother, Vernon Abernathy of Olney, Texas. Jerry is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Roy Abernathy.
Pallbearers were Jason Maloney, Dillon Pruitt, Jacob Maloney, Tom Maloney, Amy Auburg and Thomas Abernathy.- - - Waldo Funeral Home
