Texas & Pacific Railroad 
The
Texas & Pacific Railroad began in Marshall, Texas in 1873, linking
Texarkana, Arkansas to Dallas, Texas. In December 1881 the
T&P tracks were connected to the tracks of Southern Pacific
Railroad California, making it the third transcontinental service in
the United States.
