SAD ACCIDENT
Ari Wilson Falls Under a Train and Both Legs Crushed
The accident occurred Wednesday morning in the Ray yards. Wilson was discovered by the air inspector who heard his cries. He was lying on the track with both legs crushed. It was supposed that he was crawling through a string of cars and either fell or was knocked down, by the sudden movement of the train. He was at once brought to the M. K. & T. hospital on Woodard street. The company surgeons decided and amputation was necessary and both legs were taken off, the right leg above and the left below the knee. Late in the evening he had not been in a condition to tell how the accident happened. Thursday morning his pulse was favorable and the surgeons believed there was a fair chance of recovery. Wilson is 28 years of age and is train clerk for the M. K. & T. His wife is the daughter of Harve Thompson, and they have one child.
The amputation was performed by Dr. Acheson, assisted by Dr. Birch, after which he was removed to St. Vincent's hospital, Sherman. He has since stated that he was climbing over the train when it started, suddenly, throwing him off.
