At a meeting Tuesday the Masqueraders elected the following  officers:
Ben Sturdivant, president
Maxie Echols, secretary-treasurer
Eugene McIver, reporter

Mr. and Mrs. W.A. Adams, southwest of town, announce the birth of a daughter Sunday.
Miss Bertha Cox has accepted employment at Denton.
L.V. Smith has gone to El Paso where he has employment.
The summer term of school will open Monday morning with the following teachers:
D.B. Taylor
Miss Susie Noe
Robert Hollalnd
Miss Margreta Fender
Mrs. J.D. Harp -  music

America's gasoline bill in 1927 reached the staggering sum or two and a half million dollars and every motorist spent an average of $120.
C.W. Bryant has returned from a 2-week visit at Marlin.
Mrs. V.H. Montgomery of Dallas has concluded a visit with her daughter, Mrs. M.T. Craig.
Mr. and Mrs. W.B. Hestand of Slaton are visiting relatives here.
Thomas L. Wrenn, son of Mr. and Mrs. J.T. Wrenn, northeast of town, is a member of the Austin College, Sherman, graduating  class.

Heavy rain, accompanied by a spectacular electrical display, visited the Whitewright area Sunday.  Two residences at Pilot Grove were
struck by lightning and a horse was killed.
Mary Jo Sears was valedictorian and Dick Montgomery was salutatorian of the high school graduating class.
Members of the Whitewright Golf Association will tee off Sunday in a 36-hole medal-play tournament for the president's cup and to
determine the players' handicaps.
Boy Scout Troop #2 met Monday evening with the following scouts attending:

Fred Starr, Jr.
Fred Coley
Hamilton Vestal
Jack Meador

Mrs. Mollie M cSpedden, 70, died at her home at Pilot Grove Sunday.
A family reunion was held at the home of Mrs. Dillard Carr Sunday, it being her 73rd birthday.
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Reed of Dallas visited t heir aunt, Mrs. J.C. Parsons, last weekend.
At a recital Friday evening, Mrs. Guy Hamilton, teacher of piano, announced the following awards:
Memory - Norma Lou Smith
Sight  Reading - Margaret Hanna
Most Progress Shown by First Year Pupil - Betty Atkinson
Most Marked Improvement for Entire Year - Janis Jayne Horton
