MASONIC LODGE CELEBRATES 100th ANNIVERSARY
Whitewright Lodge No. 167, A.F. & A.M., observed its 100th anniversary Saturday night with a dinner and special meeting held at the high school.  Dinner was served in the school lunch room, and the lodge meeting was held in the gymnasium.
The local lodge was originally Kentuckytown Lodge No. 167, established at Kentuckytown.  A dispensation was granted on February 19, 1855 to hold a lodge at Kentuckytown.  The Grand Lodge of Texas granted a charter to Kentucky Lodge on January 25, 1856 and the first meeting under the authority of the charter was held April 5 that year.  When the Katy railroad came to Whitewright, Kentucky Lodge was moved here and the name was later changed to Whitewright Lodge.
At Saturday night's meeting, J.E. Christian read the historical highlights of the lodge.
Grand Master W.W. Boothe presented a 50-year button to W.H. Stedham in recognition of his service to the order.  Principal speaker of the evening was Grand Junior Warden Randall Briscoe.
Visiting Masons were present from several neighboring lodges.
