 The Moore Cartwright Home  Van Alstyne, Texas  2010   The Moore Cartwright h ome was moved to its present location on Hwy. 5 in the early 1900s on log rollers from the country east of town. Due to inclement weather and muddy roads it stayed in a ditch for some time until the weather changed. Moore Cartwright was born in 1892, son of Dr. and Mrs. J.S. Cartwright. He was manager at the Van Alstyne Cotton Oil Co. for 40 years as well as an accomplished artist. One of his paintings won 1st place at Tthe exas State Fair.
