John Grider Home 
Van Alstyne, Texas


J.P. Dumas, early surveyor of Dallas and Grayson counties and founder of Sister Grove Farm, built this house for his daughter, Texana. 
In 1862, Texana married Reese Cannon, founder of the town of Cannon. 
John Grider purchased the house in 1904 and it is still in his family
