 At
the McKinney-Marr Gin, a large dynamo furnished the power for the first
electric lights in Van Alstyne. The dynamo would be started about
dark and was turned off around 9:00 or 10:00 p.m. If it was not
'bed time' for any residents, lamps had to be lite.
