 VAN ALSTYNE MEMORY LANE February 25, 1905 Elopement Last Night - A man near Anna elopes with a 13 year old girl Thursday night. Floyd Butler apparently enticed 13 year old Alice White from her home. The matter has greaty disturbed her father, William White, who will spare no effort to apprehend them at the earliest possible moment.
Later: The deputy county clerk at Sherman stated over the phone that Butler had made affidavit statements in securing the marriage license that both were of marriageable age, when in reality neither was.
