JESSE F. HOLT ATTORNEY HERE FOR HALF CENTURY
Jesse F.  Holt, prominent Sherman lawyer and active religious worker, has been a resident of Sherman 50 years.  He was admitted to the bar in 1888.
Mr. Holt was born in Missouri and moved to Texas with his parents at the age of 4.  He is a son of the late Major W.S. Holt, a prominent farmer of Grayson county.  He studied law in the office of Judge D.E. Braynt and Frank C. Dillard, both deceased.  He was assistant county attorney under the late Cecil H. Smith.
He is admitted to practice before the United States supreme court and inferior federal courts, and the supreme court of Texas and inferior state courts.  His office is in the Merchants and Planters bank building.
Mr. Holt married Miss Nellie Birge, daughter of the late Capt. N.A. Birge and they reside at 703 Birge.  They have 3 children, Judge Birge Holt of Corpus Christi, Frank Holt of Dallas, and Mrs. J.P. White of Boston, Massachusetts.
Mr. Holt had been twice elected vice president of the international convention of the Disciples of Christ, and is a member of the board of managers of the United Christian missionary society.  He is an elder in the Central Christian Church.
