HENDRICK PIONEERED RADIO BROADCASTING
Lofton L. Hendrick was the station manager of the first radio station licensed to Sherman, from 1936 until he purchased ownership in KDSX in 1950.  It was in September of 1936 that KRRV started operation in a small frame building at 1910 South Crockett Street.  At the beginning it had an operating power of 100 watts on a frequency of 1310 kc and daytime operating hours only.  The station was then owned by Red River Valley Broadcasting Corporation headed by G.H. Wilcox of Sherman and T.B. Lanford of Shrevport, La.
Improvements in the facility were progressively made resulting in full time operation on 910 kh.
Recently the station changed its call letters to KIKM.
KRRV programmed in quarter hour and half-hour segments, mostly records and transcriptions of popular, semi-classical, inspirational and hillbilly music.  The news that was used then was received by wireless radio in code from Trans-Radio Press.
Later affiliated with Mutual Broadcasting System and Texas State Network, KRRV carried such early day programs that will be remembered by some as : The Shadow, mystery show; Bull Dog Drummond, kids show; Stella Dallas, soap opera; the Guy Lombardo Show; Wayne King show and others.  Commentators and news men recalled include Walter Winchell, Raymond Gramm Swing, Gabriel Heater, Fulton Lewis, Jr.; Cedric Foster and others.
