 
Sherman Democrat August 1939 JOE BROWN NEAR 30th ANNIVERSARY This year Joe Brown celebrates his thirtieth year in the grocery and market business in Sherman, having opened a market in 1909 in the 1000 block on North Craycroft. After five months at this location, he moved to 821 East Pecan where he remained until 1925 when he moved to the retail district and opened a market at the present location of the Western Union. The following year, 1926, he erected the building at 823 East Lamar where his present grocery and market is located. When he opened this store he expanded to include a line of groceries with his market business. Since he opened the present store he has added an ice cream department and machinery to manufacture ice cream. Mr. Brown has lived in Sherman all of his life, having been born here, the son of Mr. and Mrs. G.W. Brown. His father, now 86 years old, lives in Pennsylvania. Susan Hawkins © 2024 |
