 The Binkley Hotel
was erected in 1877 in the 200 block of North Travis St. The
hotel was destroyed by fire three times. It burned in 1887
and was rebuilt. It burned again in the 1890s but was rebuilt on the
original site. It burned for the last time on May 7, 1967.
 1908  The Binkley Hotel in 1908. The building to the right is the Opera House which was erected in 1880. The name of the hotel was eventually changed to the Texas Hotel and served as a "rooming house."
