The Grangers held a meeting in Sherman Friday, and Martin read an exhaustive paper before the body on the subject of "Raising the Wind."
Prof. Parks called a meeting of his patrons, in Sherman Saturday night, to consider the expediency of changing his school into a free school.
Since the new management of the Southern Hotel, they have a  change there.  The boarders now have hash.
The walls of Schneider's house have nearly reached the second story.
Waltermire now wants to "change his business."  Too thin.
Watson buys his fruit from Denison.
Tom Bond, a post office clerk, is engaged to a Gainesville young lady.
The gunsmiths on the west side of the square are preparing to leave.
Reason - - - nothing doing.
The receipts at the concert for the benefit of Miss Cox's schools, amounting to $3.50.
The proprietor of the Cannon House thinks newspaper puffs are a fraud.  He opened a bottle of win with the editors of the town, to secure a notice, and now one of them says his hotel is nearly as good as one he knows of in Lamar county.
Cockrell had some "ladies" up as vagrants the other day, but they convinced him that their means of support was "visible" any time.
Jim Woods has promised his wife to quit drinking.
Parks and LeTellier are still undecided as to the policy of teaching free schools.  One day it is announced they will, next day it is positively denied. Between the two chairs they will soon come to the ground.
A burglar entered the house of J.D. Woods, living in West Sherman, last night and stole $75 from the pocket of  a young man, a friend of Mr. W., who was stopping there for the night.
Yesterday all was dust; to-day the mud and clop is ankle deep everywhere.
The "Lone Stars" beat the "Resolutes" 17 tallies Saturday evening.  They play again Saturday week for a ball and bat.
Lieutenant Hare left to-day for his post in Dakota.
Jackson, the sewing machine man, is going to the Black Hill gold fields.
The agents of the Singer sewing machine are talking of sending a man to Mexico to prospect for good places.
