Morton Ashinhurst lost about fifty young chickens in a fire in his brooder house Monday afternoon.  A man passing the house noticed the smoke issuing from the crevices and notified the family.  The high wind caused the flame in the heater to run too high.  About two hundred young chickens had just been placed in the building and it was indeed fortunate that the loss was no greater.  A pasteboard box with fifty younger chicks, placed near the brooder, was ignited by the flame, causing the loss of that number.
