BANK EXCHANGE
A Famous Resort for Lovers of Pure Drinks
This famous resort was established in Denison in 1872, by the present proprietor Mr. John B. McDougall.  It is the pioneer saloon and liquor house of our city.  The majority of our readers will remember the old quarters.  It was a small wooden structure about 15x25, and pleasant memories cluster around the old structure which has long since been torn down and a beautiful two-story brick erected in its stead.
If ever a man was born to popularity it was "Mac."  From the first day he opened his saloon doors to the public until the present time, he has prospered, and the secret of his success is his popularity among all classes of citizens.  The Bank Exchange is not merely a saloon.  It is one of the largest liquor houses in the city.  The best brands of wine, liquors and cigars, imported and domestic, can be purchased at wholesale and retail.  It is well understood that men will drink, and without arguing the morality of the question the point is this : They should have good liquors - not the poisonous compounds that are sold in some localities for the sole purpose of making money, but whiskies, wines and brandies which are in all respects precisely are represented.  The well known reputation of Mr. McDougall's saloon fully guarantees this.  "Mac" has always been a liberal dealer, a good citizen and an enterprising man.  All undertakings for the benefit of the city have found in him a patron ready to give his money or time, and he is generous and charitable.  Such men always succeed in business, and secure the respect of their contemporaries.
