S. (Allen Shelburn) Burrows, an Iowa financier who came to Denison by
way of Wyoming. In
1907 Burrows founded the First State Bank of
Denison, located on the ground floor of the Security Building. At the
stockholders meeting in January 1912, the directors were elected: A.S.
Burrow, T.A. Murphy, John R. Haven, S.J. Boldrick, R.T. Arthur, G.W.
Carver, E. Regensburger, and A.D. Jackson; these directors then elected
A.S. Burrows as President for the insuing year, T.A. Murphy,
Vice-President, John R. Haven, cashier. Burrows was
still the bank's president in 1917, the year he left Denison for Tulsa.
