Denison Charter Committee

Pat Tobin (7) in this photo is credited with being the first engineer to drive a train into Texas. On December 24th. 1872 (Christmas Eve) he drove a MKT work locomotive over the newly constructed Red River Bridge and into the City of Denison to much fanfare! The train
to officially have the honor was not scheduled to arrive until Christmas Day!
But no one remembers the engineer of that train.

Pat Tobin served on the Denison Charter Committee for several years. He owned the Denison Crystal Ice Company near the Katy
Depot that later became Southern Ice
.
