Denison

Woodmen of World Building
201 West Woodard Street
Denison, Texas.

The Old Woodmen of the World Building, northeast corner of Austin Avenue and Woodard Street.
In 1972, it was destroyed by fire. At that time the ground floor was occupied by Chris Waltz Plumbing.
Woodmen of the World was founded in 1890 in Omaha, Nebraska, and the Denison “camp" was
organized in 1891.  Offering its members aid in times of need, the WOW is noted for  distinctive
tombstones depicting tree stumps that the organization erected nationwide prior to 1930.
