Daniel M. Jackson, b November 1821 in Alabama, d December 1893 and buried at Carolina Cemetery near Durango, Falls County, Texas - was a son of William and Nancy (Gay) Jackson, who came to The Republic of Texas in 1840.

Daniel enlisted in the U.S. Army during the U .S. - Mexican War of 1846-1848, and was in the Battle of Buena Vista. After the war, he went to Mississippi, where he was married about 1853 to Annie Elizabeth Cole, b ca 1832 in Tennessee, d before 1870 in Falls County, Texas - a daughter of Mrs. Elizabeth Cole, b ca 1803 in South Carolina and her late husband (name unknown), who had lived in Tennessee before settling in Mississippi, where their last two sons were born: Daniel F. Cole, b 1845 in Mississippi - married January 25, 1870 in Falls County, Texas to Mary Emily Bull; and Isham Cole, b 1849 in Mississippi.

Daniel M. and Annie Elizabeth (Cole) Jackson had only two identified Children:

William E. Jackson, b 1854 in Mississippi - no in- formation.

Samuel Jackson, b 1856 in Texas - married Nancy McCullough. No further information.

After the death of Annie Elizabeth (Cole) Jackson, Daniel M. was married second in Falls County, Texas to Mary (maiden name unknown), b 1827, d 1911 and. buried in Carolina Cemetery by Daniel, who was third husband. Mary was married first to Dr. No n Murchison, who died leaving a known son, Dunn Murchison, b ca 1853. A "Mittie Rachel Murchison" b May 1839, d August 1886 in Falls County married first to J. O. Knighten, and second to Byrd C. Jackson- but her relationship to Dr. Nolan Murchison has not been determined. The young widow, Mary Murchison, was married second to James M. Wright, and when he died, she was married third to Daniel M. Jackson, who also preceded her in death.
