John Henry Featherston

John Henry Featherston, b. April 11, 1862 in Missouri, d. September 28, 1940 in Chilton and buried there in the Chilton Cemetery in Falls County, Texas-was a son of Edward John and Catherine (Warren) Featherston, and a grandson of Dr. Edward Hardiway Featherston. John Henry Featherston married in 1888 in Falls County to Lou Annie Bryant, b. January 12, 1873, d. April 2, 1949 and buried by her husband-a daughter of John Wesley Bryant, b. 1847, d. 1920-a son of James A. and Mary (Stewart) Bryant, and his wife, Sarah Ann (Lively) Bryant, b. 1852, d. 1914 in Chilton. John Wesley Bryant brought his family to Falls County, Texas in 1881, and settled near Chilton, where he was a farmer, a Justice of the Peace, a church leader, and public servant.

John Henry Featherston was a merchant, as his father had been, and later his son became. He and Lou Annie reared only one child to adulthood-being the parents of two children, and rearing a foster daughter:

John Bryant Featherston, b. July 20, 1891, d. January 5, 1976-married Sambo Gaines, b. November 25, 1894, d. 1984-a daughter of Sidney and Katherine (de Graffenried) Gaines.

Bessie Featherston-died in her early childhood.

Maggie Lee Featherston-a foster daughter-married a Mr. Adams.
