Clifton H. CHAMBERLAIN, Jr. (called "C.H."), b March 26, 1918 - was a son of Marlin Dentist, Clifton H. CHAMBERLAIN, b April 8, 1889, d October 9, 1949 and his wife Fern C. (DICKERSON) CHAMBERLAIN, b October 16, 1883, d August 22, 1981 - both buried in Calvary Cemetery in Marlin, Falls County, Texas.

C.H. graduated from Marlin High School, and then from Texas A&M University - entering the U.S. Army in 1941. He served in the Philippines, where he was wounded in 1942. He was on Corregidor - "the Rock," when General Douglas McArthur left the Philippines - swearing to return; and it was here that C.H. was taken prisoner by the Japanese. He survived the "Death March" on Bataan, but remained a prisoner of war for about three and a half years, being liberated in early 1945. He held the rank of Captain, and was awarded the Philippine Campaign Ribbon with Battle Stars, APO with two Battle Stars, American Defense Ribbon, Presidential Citation, the DSC, and the Purple Heart. Immediately following his liberation, C.H. returned to the United States and to his hometown of Marlin, Falls County, Texas.

On April 15, 1945 in Marlin, he was married to Martha Ellen STEELE, b June 6, 1918 in Stranger, Falls County, Texas, d December 1, 1965 in Washington, D.C. and buried in Calvary Cemetery in Marlin - a daughter of William John and Tempa Ophelia (WATSON) Steele, Sr.

Clifton H. and Martha Ellen (STEELE) CHAMBERLAIN, Jr. were the parents of two children:
Cynthia Ann Chamberlain, b May 16, 1946 - married December 21, 1976 to Jesse Lynn MARSH and they had Michael Lynn MARSH, b July 29, 1979 in Midland, Texas.

William Clifton CHAMBERLAIN, b March 17, 1949 in Washington, D.C. - married August 21, 1970 in Houston, Texas to Judy WARMUND, and had Martha Louise CHAMBERLAIN, b October 15, 1976; and Richard Clifton CHAMBERLAIN, b March 14, 1980.
