James Stanton Bussell

James Stanton Bussell, b June 19, 1919 in Dallas, Dallas County, Texas - was a son of Sanford Stanton Bussell, b September 1879 at Mountain Peak, Ellis County, Texas, d September 9,1948 in Phoenix, Arizona, and his wife, Daisy Hilda (Morrow) Bussell, b October 2, 1879 at Blooming Grove, Tennessee, d January 28, 1967 in Marlin, Falls County, Texas.

James Stanton Bussell (called "Jimmy") was reared in Phoenix, and returned to Texas to finish his education at Baylor University in Waco.

On December 5, 1942, in Bethesda, Maryland, he was married to Dorothy Ruth Tostmann, b August 7, 1921 near Perry, Falls County, Texas-the only child of Karl and Almeda (Wiebusch) Tostmann - both Pharmacists at Riesel, McLennan County, Texas, where they had settled. "Jimmy" and Dorothy had met at Baylor University, where both obtained their degrees.

Dorothy taught school at La Vega, near Waco, and in Riesel, Texas while Jimmy served as Chief Pharmacist Mate in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of an epidemiology unit, and served two years with the U.S. Marines in the South Pacific.

After the end of World War II, Bussell attended Baylor Medical College in Houston, was elected President of his class, and received his M.D. degree in 1950. He served his internship at Jefferson Davis Hospital in Houston, and the couple then moved to Marlin, Falls County, Texas, where he became associated with Torbett-Hutchings-Smith Memorial Hospital and Clinic, until his retirement in 1984.

Dr. Bussell is active in Medical Associations and civic affairs in the community. He was a Cub Scout Master, and received the Silver Beaver award. He and Dorothy are members of the First Baptist Church of Marlin, where he is a Deacon, and a past Sunday School teacher. Both Dr. and Mrs. Bussell, are members of Falls County Historical Commission, and were among the Founders of Falls County Historical Museum, which was dedicated and opened November 5, 1983.

Dorothy (Tostmann) Bussell has been active in the P. T. A., church activities, Cub Scouts, and is a member of a Garden Club in Marlin.

Dr. and Mrs. James Stanton Bussell are the parents of four children:
Carl James Bussell, b October 22, 1945 in Long Beach, California - is a graduate of the University of Texas, Austin. He served four years in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, aboard the U.S.S. Ingersoll. He is now a Jeweler, and owns Carl Bussell's Diamond Room in Bryan, Texas. On May 24, 1967, Carl was married to Nancy Curry, b December 28,1945 in Marlin - a daughter of Willard and Sally (Kelly) Curry of the Alto Springs Community in East Falls County, Texas. Willard was a descendant of Thomas Curry, and Sally of Dr. Isaiah Harlan- both pioneers in Texas be- fore the War for Texas Independence in 1836, and both listed on the Early Patriots of Texas Monument erected in 1986 in Falls County. Nancy (Curry) Bussell graduated from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville. Carl and Nancy Bussell have two daughters: Stacey Annette Bussell, b June 24, 1973 in Aus- tin, Texas; and Betsy Paige Bussell, b June 24, 1976 in Bryan, Texas. The family are very active in the First Methodist Church of Bryan, where they reside.

Carol Ann Bussell, b August 2, 1947 in Houston, Harris County, Texas - graduated from Baylor University, Waco; and is a Computer Analyst with Tracor in Austin, Texas. She married Mitchel Jones, and they have no children. They reside in Leander, Texas.

Stanton Charles Bussell, b October 16, 1950 in Houston, Harris County, Texas, graduated from Baylor University, Waco, Texas, after which he embarked on a two-and-one-half year "back-pack" trip to every continent in the world. When he returned to the United States, Stanton earned a Master's Degree from the Thunderbird School of International Management in Phoenix, Arizona, and is currently a financial consultant with Merrill-Lynch Brokerage Firm in Waco. On June 27, 1981, Stanton married Susan Shoptaw of Houston, Texas - a graduate of Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos. Susan is assistant advertising Production Manager at Word, Incorporated, in Waco, Texas; and they reside in Hewitt. They have no children.

Robert Walter Bussell, b December 29, 1953 in Marlin, Falls County, Texas - graduated from Sam Houston State University" Huntsville. On June 1, 1975, he was married to Sharon Clark - a daughter of John and Martha ("Marti" Hunnicutt) Clark, of Marlin. Sharon also graduated from Sam Houston State University. They currently live at Bedford, Texas, where Robert is now Vice President of Lindy Dennis Air Conditioning Company for the Dallas-Fort Worth area. They have two children: Adam Lee Bussell, b April 4, 1980 in Conroe, Texas; and Karla Kay Bussell, b June 2, 1981 in Conroe.
