Jacob Busby

Jacob Busby, b February 28, 1806, in Lexington County, South Carolina, d August 29, 1873, in Mooreville, Falls County, Texas and buried there in Mooreville Cemetery - was a son of Jeremiah Busby, b 1774 in North Carolina, and hi wife, Margaret, b 1771 in South Carolina.

The Busby family moved to Georgia where Jacob married on September 18, 1824, to Miriam Sele [Sealy], b 1806 in North Carolina, d October 1, 1875, at Mooreville. About 1837, Jacob and Miriam moved to Alabama, then to Ouachita County, Arkansas by 1840. Shortly after 1850, Jacob brought his family to Falls County, Texas, where he bought a farm in northwest Falls County.

Jacob and Miriam (Sealy) Busby had eight identified children:
Nathan Busby, b 1825 in Georgia, d ca 1872 in Falls County, Texas - married Margaret Drusher, b 1828 in North Carolina, d April 1870 in Falls County of consumption, and buried in Powell Cemetery near Chilton, Texas.

Lucinda Busby, b 1831 in Goergia - was on the 1850 census with her parents in Arkansas. No further information.

Jacob Busby, Jr., b 1836 in Georgia, d after 1850.

Tillman Busby, b 1838 in Alabama - married Clarice Wiggins in Falls County, and moved to West Texas.

Missouri Busby, 1841 in Arkansas - was on the 1850 census with her parents. No further information.

Andrew Jackson Busby, B 1845 in Arkansas - was unmarried in Falls County in 1870. No further information.

Lena Busby, b 1846 in Arkansas - was on the 1850 census with her parents. No further information.

Margaret Elizabeth Busby, b 1850 in Arkansas, d 1946 at Cego, Falls County, married John W. Stephenson.

After the deaths of her husband and eldest son, Nathan, Miriam was guardian of her grandchildren. She died two years later, and the minor children orphans were reared by their elder brothers.
