Austin Daniel Bryan

Austin Daniel Bryan, b October 10, 1912 in Marlin, Falls County, Texas - a son of Peyton and Ella Victoria (Binnicker) Bryan - was married in the Perry Methodist Church in Falls County on May 17, 1941 to Lydia Beatrice Adelheid Denke, b May 9, 1915 at Perry - a daughter of Paul and Auguste (Inselmann) Denke.

Austin was a 1931 graduate of Marlin High School, where he played football 1928-1930. After at-tending Sul Ross College at Alpine, Texas, he taught school in Perry from 1934 to 1937, and then began work in the lumber business in several cities, including Marlin. He was Manager of the W. J. and J. F. Barnes Lumber Company for twenty years, retiring in 1978.

Austin Daniel Bryan served in the U.S. Navy Construction Battalion during World War II from March 1942 until November 1945 in the Pacific Theater. He has been engaged in farming in the Perry-Otto area from 1956 until 1981, and he and his wife, Lydia, now reside on a farm on the Rock Dam Road in Marlin.

Austin and Lydia are active in the First United Methodist Church of Marlin, and in various civic and social endeavors. Both are members of the Eastern Star, Worthy Patron and Matron of the Walter Bald-win Chapter #929 in Waco, Texas in 1955. Austin is also a 32 degree Mason, and a Shriner.

Lydia (Denke) Bryan graduated from Mart High School in 1933, and attended Baylor University. She has gained statewide recognition as a Certified Master Flower Show Judge.

Austin Daniel and Lydia Beatrice Adelheid (Denke) Bryan had two children:
Patricia Ann Bryan, b May 14, 1947 in Waco - married January 20, 1969 in Marlin, Texas to Brian Byron Young, Jr;

James Austin Bryan, D. D. S., b October 14, 1950 in Waco, Texas - married July 15, 1972 to Priscilla Gail Starratt.
