Porter J. Brown

Reverend Porter J. Brown, Sr., b ca 1900, lives in Marlin, Falls County, Texas in 1986 - was a son of Daniel Mabry Brown, b 1849, d 1935 and buried in Mustang Prairie Cemetery, married December 29, 1879 Margaret (Peavy) b 1861, d 1949 and buried in Mustang Prairie Cemetery, and a grandson of Waller L. and Harriett Virginia (McKinley) Brown, natives of Georgia and North Carolina, respectively.

Daniel Mabry and Margaret (Peavy) Brown had five children: Georgia Janette Brown, b January 31, 1882, d October 11, 1912 - married Joseph C. Kennedy, b March 23,1871, d November 12, 1945 and buried in Mustang Prairie Cemetery; Nancy Brown b March 19, 1884, d January 30, 1906 - married William M. Kay; Bunyan Wright Brown - married Bertha Bell Case; Albert Walter Brown, b October 4, 1898, d March 16, 1976 - married Annie Mae Hetherington; and Reverend Porter J. Brown.

Reverend Porter J. Brown, Sr. was married to Bessie Lewis, of the Mustang Prairie Community. He served as pastor of the Hope Baptist Church. Among other pastorates he served at Cedar Springs, New Hope, and White Rock Baptist churches for over fifty years. He is a member of Marlin Masonic Lodge #152.

He and Bessie (Lewis) were the parents of three children:
Porter J. Brown, Jr., b August 7, 1921- married Hazel Barnes, b January 26, 1921.

Conrad Brown, b October 1925 - who married Venia Rhea Gooden.

Mabry Brown, b October 1935 - married Martha Gholson.
