Isaac Barton, b October 11, 1868 near McClanahan, Falls County, Texas, d June 18, 1905 in Perry, and buried in Calvary Cemetery in Marlin, Texas - was a son of David G. and Mary Paralee (Wilson) Barton. Isaac married on July 81, 1887 in Falls County to Allie Oakes, b January 1, 1869, d December 22, 1959 in Marlin - a daughter of Robert Allen and Mary Helen (Ward) Oakes.

Isaac's parents died within a year of each other when he was only two years old. The courts took five years to settle the estate, with several different relatives and administrators appointed his guardian. His sister, Martha (Barton) McPherson took care of him, and his father's cousin, Nancy (Barton) Stahl, had a great influence on his life - as well as his older brother, James Barton.

Isaac and Allie moved to a farm near Perry, where her father owned land. They were members of the Perry Baptist Church, and their children started to school in Perry.
Isaac was only thirty-seven years old when he died, leaving his wife with eight small children. In 1911, Allie was appointed postmaster at Perry; but later she moved to Marlin to educate her children at Marlin High School. They were all living when she died, but only one, John David Barton, is alive at Riesel, Texas in 1986.

The eight children of Isaac and Allie (Oakes) Barton were:
Beulah Emily Barton, b July 4,1888 at Perry - married February 19, 1911 to James David Barton - a son of David John and Easter (Miers) Barton, and a grandson of Isaac M. and Mary (Brown) Barton. James David was elected District Clerk of Falls County, and served in that office from 1918 to 1924.

Ocie Alvin Barton, b June 18, 1892 - married June 25, 1914 to Edna Bohannon, and had two sons: William Bohannon Barton, and Ocie Alvin Barton, Jr. In 1959, Ocie lived in Gatesville, Texas.

Cecil Evylin Barton, b June 25, 1894 - married December 24, 1914 to J. Evans Dillard. They lived on Chilton Street in Marlin, Texas before moving to Ennis, Texas.

Isla Lea Barton, b July 1, 1896- married June 17, 1923 to Dr. Houston B. Cannon, an Optometrist in Marlin. They had one son, Jack Barton Cannon, and moved to Ft. Worth, Texas.

Frank Ward Barton, b February 1, 1899 - married May 2,1923 to Thelma Mitchell, and had Mary Allie Barton. Frank was in the banking business at Marfa, Texas.

Minnie Sue Barton, b January 21, 1901, d Septem-ber 30, 1981 - was never married. She attended Baylor University, and taught school.

John David Barton, b January 8, 1903 - married July 7,1925 to Lois Punchard of Mart, Texas. Lois taught school in Riesel until her retirement, and he was a farmer and rancher. They had no children.

James William Barton, b March 12, 1905 - married August 6, 1929 to Frances Graves of Kentucky. Called "Jim Willie" - he was a football star at Marlin High School. He attended Baylor University, and while there was offered a scholarship at a Baptist College in Legington, Kentucky. It was there that he met and later married Frances. After attending Baylor Dental School in Dallas, he and Frances were living in Gatesville, where his brother, Ocie A. Barton, lived in 1959. Their daughter, Sue Barton, married Truman Bigham and resides in Waco, Texas.
