Guy Herman Barganier

Guy Herman Barganier, b October 4, 1887 in Fort Deposit, Alabama, d May 17, 1943 in Marlin, Falls County, Texas and buried there in Calvary Cemetery - was a son of John Salter and Virginia (Price) Barganier, of Alabama. After his brother, Clarence Eugene Barganier, came to Falls County in 1906, "Herman" followed him in 1907 to the Cedar Springs area, where he began farming in the Brazos River bottom.

Herman was married first in 1910 to Cleo Sallie Redding, b December 26, 1881, d July 15, 1921 and buried in Powers Chapel Cemetery, Falls County, Texas - a daughter of Henry George Redding - a veteran of the Confederate States Army during the Civil War, and his wife, Caldonia Ann ("Callie" Byers) Redding, b 1851 in Georgia, d 1918, and a granddaughter of James Byers, b ca 1823 in North Carolina, and his wife, Mary Ann (Brandon) Byers, b ca 1831 in Georgia, who were early settlers of Powers Chapel in the 1850's. Herman bought a Brazos River Bottom Ranch at Cedar Springs, and it was there that he lived for about 25 years. He was prominent in community affairs, Trustee of the Cedar Springs School, and a member of the first Methodist Church at Cedar Springs.

Herman and Cleo had three children:
Winona V. Barganier - married first to Jake Ward of Reagan, Texas, and had issue; married second to Garland Matthews, and resides in Belton, Texas.

John Herbert Barganier, M. D. - is a retired physician, residing in Odessa, Texas. He married, and had issue.

Velma Price Barganier, b October 7, 1920 at Cedar Springs, resides in Marlin, Texas in 1986 - married Edward Guy Garrett, Jr., b November 11, 1918, d June 26, 1983 and buried in Hillcrest Cemetery at Marlin - a son of Edward Guy and Hattie Alm (Varnado) Garrett, natives of Falls County, Texas. They had three children.

After the death of his wife, Herman was married second to Letha Williams - a daughter of James William and Aramantha Rebecca (Millerman) Williams, and they had one daughter:
Lois Earle Barganier, who married Robert Fielder and resides in Richardson, Texas.

Letha died ca 1933, and Herman was married third to Gladys Westmoreland, of the Durango Community. He bought the former Robert Jasper Garrett in Marlin, and moved there to send his two youngest children to Marlin schools.

Gladys (Westmoreland) Barganier lives in Marlin in 1986, and resides in a local nursing home.
