Henry Alston (formerly Van Alstine), b 1810 in New York, d December 15, 1872 in Falls County, Texas and buried in Blue Ridge Cemetery--came to Montgomery County, Texas before 1845, and served in the U. S.-Mexican War, 1846-1848.

On November 7, 1848 in Montgomery County, Texas, Henry was married to Mary Elizabeth McCaleb, b ca 1829 in Tennessee, d after 1900 in Falls County, Texas--a daughter of Zill Harrington and Mary Elizabeth(Martin) McCaleb, natives of Tennessee who settled in Montgomery County, Texas before moving to Falls County, where they both died are are buried in Blue Ridge Cemetery.

Henry and Mary Elizabeth(McCaleb)Alston were the parents of eight children:

Sophronia Alston, b 1849 in Montgomery County, Texas --married October 8, 1868 in Falls County Texas to D. L. Pruitt.

Gorge Alston, b 1852 in Montgomery County, Texas--was unmarried in 1871.

Jesse Alston, b 1853 in Montgomery County, Texas--remained a bachelor, and took care of his mother and the death of his father.

Andrew Jackson Alston, b April 4, 1852 in Montgomery, County, Texas, d November 14, 1933 and buried in Glade Chapel Cemetery in Falls County, Texas--married June 27, 1883 to Mary Dorcas Barclay(called "Mamie"), b February 16, 1865, d April 9, 1941 and buried in Glade Chapel Cemetery-- a daughter of William Alexander and Mary P.(Long) Barclay of Blue Ridge, Falls County, Texas.

Mary Alston, b 1856--died young, in Montgomery County, Texas.

James Henry Alston, August 18, 1858 in Falls County, died February 17, 1865 and buried in Blue Ridge Cemetery.

Elizabeth Alston, born and died in 1867 and buried in Blue Ridge of Falls County, Texas.

Jink Alston, b January 1871 in Falls County, Texas, d 1947 and buried in Bremond Cemetery, Robertson county, Texas--married Paloma Kay, b November 18,1874-- a daughter of Eli and Mary J. Kay, of Lousiana and Mississippi respectively.
