Photo shows the route of the old Temple-Waco highway that went thru Bruceville. Because of the dangers of crossing the railroad, this route would later be changed to a more northerly route thru Bruceville and a railroad overpass would be built over the highway to allow vehicular traffic to pass underneath the railroad tracks.

Note: This picture was taken looking west into downtown Bruceville, with railroad depot and bank visible in the background.

Photo of the interior of the Bruceville, Texas drugstore and post office, run by Mr. Elvis Bandy, who can be seen in this photo.

The drugstore and post office occupied the southern portion of the large, red brick building in downtown Bruceville. The drugstore faced out east, towards the Temple-Waco highway which ran thru downtown, with the postoffice at the back of the drugstore. This brick building also contained the Bruceville bank, run by Mr. Nolan Taylor. The bank occcupied the northern portion of the building, and faced out north. Running along the back half of the entire building, with its entrance facing out north, was a grocery store run by Mr. Britt Edwards.

This panoramic view of downtown Bruceville was taken shortly after Highway 81 was straightened, around 1935. This new stretch of highway completely bypassed downtown Bruceville.

Note: This photo was taken from the side of the overpass over the MKT railroad, alongside Highway 81, looking west and northwest into Bruceville.
