John Franklin Walts

     John Franklin Walts, 71, of Mart, died last Wednesday at his home.

     Services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Littlepage Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. W. H. Smith officiating.  Burial was at Criswell Cemetery, south of Mart.

     Mr. Walts was born April 30, 1912, in Thornton.  He was married to Lena Papendorf.  She died in 1969.  Mr. Walts was a retired farmer.

     Survivors include a son, James L. Walts of Mart; three daughters, Betty Lou Freeman of Mart, Carol Sue Rhodes of Waco and Linda Kattner of Austin; four brothers, R. C. Walts of Waco, Roland Walts and Billy Walts, both of Killeen, and R. T. Walts of Uvalde; and four sisters, Essie Schraeder; Lena Cannon and Zelda Fowler, both of Killeen, and Juanita McDaniel of Lott; and nine grandchildren, Gerald Freeman Jr., Lisa Freeman, Liz Davis, Johnny and Brandi Baggs, all of Waco; Brad and Kirk Walts of Mart; and Todd and Holly Kattner of Austin.
