May 16 1935 – January 31, 2009

Darwin L. Wittie, 73, passed to the better life Jan. 31, 2009. Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, at Powers Chapel Cemetery in Pleasant Grove, Texas, officiated by Dr. Rex Bland. Visitation will be 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home.  

Darwin was born in Gatesville on May 16, 1935. He later left Gatesville to serve his country in the Army for four years and he served an additional year with the National Guard. he settled in Bosqueville and met his wife of 41 years, "Bunny," while working at Gulf State Paper. He later retired from Waco Rental after 27 years. His passions in life were his family, friends, fishing, hunting, farming and making people laugh.

 

He was preceded in death by his mother; father; two brothers; and one sister.

 

He is survived by his loving wife, Mildred "Bunny" Wittie; one brother, Jerry Wittie of Tyler; step-son, Clint Herzog and wife, Shelly; step-daughter, Robin Durmon; granddaughters, Crystal Durmon and Brandi Herzog; three great-grandchildren, all of Waco; niece, Paula

 

Fenter of Tyler; and nephew, Sandy Creel of Waco.
