Edward Williams

May 10,1935 - March 10,1996

     Edward Williams was born to the parentage of Sam and Rosia Williams on May 10th, 1935 in Marlin, Texas. He graduated from Booker T. Washington in 1955. He married Maggie Lene Johnson. To this union, six children were born. He united with South Union Baptist Church at an early age and remained a faithful member until he moved to Dallas. He later united with Greater Memorial Baptist Church where he served as Trustee of the Deacon Board; a member of the Greater Memorial Outreach House of Hope; he served as President of the Usher Board, where he remained a faithful member until his death. He was employed with Simmon Mattress Company for 30 years where he was a loyal and faithful employee until his health failed him and forced him to retire.

     One son, Harry Eugene Williams and one brother, Charlie Williams, preceded him in death.

     He leaves to cherish his memories: A loyal and loving wife, Lamie Marie Williams; seven boys, Sherbit Vanderbilt and daughter-in-law, Pearl of Hawaii, Dexter Earl Williams and daughter-in-law, Barbra of Germany, Alvin Williams and daughter-in-law, Carolyn of Dallas, Edward Jr. and daughter-in-law, Cynthia of Dallas, Barry Lugene Williams and daughter-in-law, Tracy of Dallas, Calvin Williams of Dallas, and one adopted son, Willie Rhynes of Dallas; one sister, Reva Mae Williams of Dallas; one aunt, Sallie Booker of Marlin, Texas; 25 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Calhoun of Shreveport, LA, Essie Bea Watkins of Dallas, TX; 2 brothers-in-law, Edward Bailey Jr. of Dallas and Alonzo McCoton of Detroit MI; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and special friends.

     *Mr. Williams is laid to rest in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, Dallas, Texas.
