Martin Wiggleton, Retired Farmer, War Veteran, Dies



     Martin Wiggleton, 83-year-old retired farmer and a veteran of the Spanish-American War, died at 5:55 a.m. Saturday, October 6, 1956, in the Veterans hospital at Marlin.  He was admitted to the hospital on September 29th.
     
     Funeral services at 4 p.m. Sunday at Adams Funeral Chapel, with Rev. E. M. Putnam, pastor of the Assembly of God Church, officiating.  Burial in Calvary Cemetery.
     
     He is survived by his widow at Marlin; four sons, Wilmer and Clifford Wiggleton of Marlin, William Wiggleton of Waco and Marvin Lee Wiggleton of Salt Lake City, Utah; three daughters, Mrs. Bill Bolden of Marlin, Mrs. Charlie Briggs of Kosse and Mrs. Lewis Cofield of Rice, Texas.  He is also survived by four brothers and three sisters.  They live in Mississippi, with the exception of Mrs. Tom Shue of Alma, Texas.
     
     Mr. Wiggleton was born in Mississippi on August 18, 1873 and came to Texas at the age of 12.  He spent most of his adult life in and around Falls County.  When he retired some 20 years ago or longer, he was farming in the Cedar Springs community.  After retiring he and his family moved to Marlin where he had since lived.  His widow is the former Mattie Lou Batey.  The couple were married in 1903.
    
     For the last few years Mrs. Wiggleton had helped in various ways at the office of
Dr. J. M. Fitte, Marlin veterinan.
