Andrew Joe Vanicek Sr.

January 30, 1953 – June 4, 2009

 

     Funeral services for Harold Vanicek, Sr., 56, of Rosebud were held Monday, June 8 at the Seaton Brethren Church with Pastor Denise Mikeska officiating. Burial followed at the Seaton Cemetery.

     Visitation was held Sunday at the Scanio-Harper Funeral in Temple.

     Mr. Vanicek died Thursday, June 4, 2009 at his near Rosebud.

     He was born Jan. 30, 1953, in Temple, the son of Henry and Willie Mae Hutka Vanicek. He was a graduate of Rogers High School.

     He spent over 20 years with Ferrell Distributing and completed his time as a supervisor. He then followed his passion for cooking and started his own catering business, Double Czech Catering. He won many cook-off awards with his team during the years he was part of the Central Texas Barbeque Association.

     Mr. Vanicek was a lifetime member of SPJST and was honored in 2006 as Fraternalist of the Year at Lodge #24, Cyclone.

     Survivors include his wife, Doris Vanicek; two sons, Harold Vanicek and wife Deborah and Brent Vanicek and wife Jennifer; two grandchildren, Virginia and Henry; his mother, Willie Mae Vanicek; his brothers, David Vanicek and wife Pat and Brian Vanicek and wife Joan.
