Martina Villanueva Vanegas
November 12, 1916 - September 9, 2007

     Martina Villanueva Vanegas, 90, of Marlin entered into rest on Sunday, September 9, 2007.

     Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Rev. Leonard Leddy as celebrant. Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery. A Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Monday at Adams Funeral with Deacon Julian Tyboroski officiating. Family visitation will be before and after the rosary.

     Mrs. Vanegas was born November 12, 1916 in Hutto, to Gertrudes and Lucas Anaro Villanueva. She was a homemaker, a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marlin and a resident of Marlin for the past 60 years. She loved to cook scratch cakes for her family and to tend to her flower garden. She also was an accomplished seamstress and took great joy in sitting outside in the cool of the evenings.

     Mrs. Vanegas was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two sons, a daughter, a great grandson, four brothers and three sisters.

     Survivors include: son, Alexander Vanegas of Marlin; daughters, Susie Tovar and husband Julian of Marlin, Irene Venegas of Marlin, Ortencia Sifuentez of Ft. Worth; brother, Frank Villanueva of Dallas; sister, Bessie Villanueva of Dallas; special care giver, Pat Cantu of Marlin; 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and five great-great Grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

     Pallbearers will be: Isac Sifuentez, John Gonzales III, A. J. Vanegas, Erik Vanegas, Anthony Venegas, and Jason Allen. Honorary Pallbearers are the grandsons and great grandson.
