-----
Died at Garden City--Aged 74--
Funeral in Marlin.
-----

A telephone message was received in this city today announcing death at Garden City Friday of Mrs. Gen. E. A. Shields.
Funeral services were held from the residence of R.E.L. Tomlinson on Fortune street Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock, the remains arriving at one o'clock Sunday morning.
Mrs. Shields was 74 years of age and was a resident of this state for about 50 years.  She came with her husband, the late Gen. Shields, to Texas from Alabama.  In that state Gen. Shields was a member of the Federal congress before the war.
The family resided at Marlin for some years, later moving to Chilton where Gen. Shields died.  The widow moved this year to Garden City with Shields Key and family.
Mrs. Shields was beloved by all who knew her for her many noble traits of character.
