Donna Jean (Anderson) Scruggs
May 23, 1953 – May 20, 2009
Donna Jean Scruggs, age 55, of Marlin, entered into rest on Wednesday, May 20,
2009. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 23, 2009 at First
United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery. The family
will receive friends on Friday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Adams Funeral in Marlin.
Mrs. Scruggs was born May 23, 1953 in Marlin to Roy and Doris Thomas Anderson.
She served as executive director of the Marlin Housing Authority for 22 years
and was a lifelong resident of Falls County. Donna married Phillip Scruggs
August 17, 1973. Donna loved working with her flowers, drinking tea and playing
bridge but most of all she loved her family. She was a loving wife, mother,
sister, friend and Meemaw.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and soul mate Phillip who
died March 22, 2007, and her beloved daughter Wendi Scruggs in June of 2005.
Donna blessed our family with her love and laughter, and our grief and sense of
loss may be diminished with time, but will never, ever leave us.
Survivors include daughters, Jodi Guitzkow and husband Lorne of Marlin, Kelly
Scruggs of Hewitt; son, Daniel Scruggs of Santa Monica, CA; sister, Debra King
and husband Dan of Aubrey, TX; brother, David Anderson and wife Carol of
Duncanville; grandchildren, Donisha and Donavon Blakes and Logan and Larson
Guitzkow. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers will be William (T) Cook, Fred Rosas, Jerry Sapp, Harvey Hartsfield,
Craig Rodriquez, and Chris Rodriquez
Adams Funeral in Marlin is in charge of arrangements.
