ROLAND MARTIN SCHAAKE
September 27, 1926 - February 17, 2009

 

     Roland Martin Schaake, 82, Chilton, passed away in a local nursing in Rosebud. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, at the St. Paul United Church Cemetery in Cego, Texas, with the Rev. Shelton Markham officiating. Visitation will be 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, at the Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Dr. in Waco.

 

     Roland was born Sept. 27, 1926, in Cego, to Ewald William Schaake and Martha Freida Miller Schaake. Roland married Wanda Lucille Crosby on June 03, 1950, in Cego. He was a farmer and rancher for many years; he was a maintenance supervisor for Chilton ISD and drove a school bus for over 30 years. He was maintenance supervisior for Cego/Durango Water Supply and also served as director. Roland was a member and director of the Chilton Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Chilton and a member of the Marlin's Lions Club.

 

     Mr. Schaake was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Lucille Crosby Schaake; and his parents. He is survived by his son, Ronald Schaake of Chilton; daughter, Sharon Maxey and husband, James of Chilton; a brother, Kenneth Schaake and wife, Eva of San Antonio; grandchildren, Rachael Bosse and husband, Walter of Chilton, and Rebecca Maxey of Chilton; great-grandchildren Taylor, Avery and Colton Bosse; and many nieces and nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Chilton Volunteer Fire Department.
