Marietta Sudduth

 

     ROSEBUD - Marietta Hailey Sudduth, 98, of Lott, passed away Saturday, Feb. 22, 2003, at a Waco hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, in Cook-Gerngross-Green-Patterson Funeral in Rosebud with the Rev. Holly Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Clover Hill Cemetery in Lott. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home.

 

     Mrs. Sudduth was born in Lott, Oct. 10, 1904, to Rolla and Etta Moore Hailey, who founded the Western Fair Store in 1904. She married C. J. Sudduth in 1922. She later became co-owner of the Western Fair Store with her brother, Judge R. W. Hailey. She was a life long member of First Presbyterian Church in Lott.

 

     She was preceded in death by her husband in 1976, by her son, Walter H. Sudduth, by sons-in-law M. L. Hill and Bob Davis and by grandson, C. Jay Davis.

 

     Survivors include daughters, Margaret Hill of Temple, Ruth Dupree and husband R. C. of Robinson, and Mary Jane Davis of Arlington; sister, Margaret Gaines; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
