Nina Stone



     MARLIN-- Nina Ruth Stone, 86, of Marlin, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2002, at her residence.  Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Adams Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Phillips and the Rev. Vernon Vaughn officiating.  Interment will be at Criswell Cemetery.  Family visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Adams Funeral Home.

     Mrs. Stone was born on July 27, 1915, in Falls County to Frank and Eula Snider Cooper.  She was retired from Swift Turkey Processing Plant after 21 years of service.  She was a 43 year resident of Marlin and a member of the Little Deer Creek Baptist Church.  She loved to garden, cook for her family, had a abiding love for her grandchildren and enjoyed baby-sitting.

     She was preceded in death by her husband, James Elmer Stone in January of 1987; daughters, Laverne Hefelfinger in December of 2000, Lois Walts in 1941; and a great-grandson, Dustin Wosley in June of 1998.

     Survivors include her children, Joe Walts Jr. of San Antonio and Laura Hefelfinger of New Caney; step-children, Vernell Mills of Mart, Eugene Stone of Waco and James Nelson Stone of Cameron; sisters, Doris Hogan of Mart and Lucille Smith of Greenburg, Penn.; niece, Louise Matthews of Marlin and numerous other nieces and nephews; 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

     Pallbearers will be her great-grandsons.
